Guidelines for SEO

SEO

When writing content for your website, please follow the guidelines below in order to improve Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

For effective SEO, each page should have a main keyword, based on what your potential customers might be searching for, with the front page being the most important, so this should include whatever the main keyword (phrase) is.

The keyword should be included in the page title and each page should contain the keyword (phrase) in the first sentence and the last sentence. For SEO purposes, each page should also have a H1 header tag and H2 header and a H3header tag containing the keyword. Also, each page should have the keyword italicized at one point in the page, it should also have the keyword underlined at one point in the page and each page should also have at least one image on it, with the keyword included in the tag.

Overall, the keyword density for the page should be around 3.5% as any more will be penalised by Google and any less will reduce ranking. Preferably each page should also have a link back within the page to another (relevant) page within the website.

Additionally, one of the most important factors affecting SEO at present are backlinks. The more quality, relevant backlinks the better your SEO will be, preferably from sites with a high Google Page Rank.
